Final Blog
I feel that this class has gone beyond what I expected it to be. When I first started the class I thought that we would be typing a bunch of nonsense into word and get through the class in no time, but we actually did a lot more work than I expected. We not only used programs I was familiar with, we used programs that I had only ever heard about or seen in passing, so this will help my future experiences a lot.
Also the work load for the class itself was way more than I, or even most of the class, expected. While it seemed at first this would be a disadvantage because I believed that it would interfere with what I thought were more “important” classes, it actually in the long run will help me out later on in my school life and my career. It will help me be ready for the more advanced classes that will be coming along in my future.
The grade I expect from this class is at least an A-, if not an A.

Week 2 EOC (Fears of the Internet)
The thing that scares me the most about the way the Internet is today is not being anonymous, just losing that sense of being able to surf without anyone knowing who you are. Now I know that this also presents security problems for all web users, i.e. the scare ware that has been floating around the Internet and causing people untold problems, and also the Conficker worm that surfaced on April fools day. These “hackers” are some of the best programmers that exist in the world, although some are not “programmers” per say, but they do have enough knowledge to cause problems for a lot of people. The only thing that makes me feel any better about these web pirates is the fact that some of the security experts that are hired by anti-virus companies are the also some of the best on this side of the law, and try and fight these problems the best they can.
The other side of this problem is the fact that the government can track the criminals, but they can also track the people who are not doing anything, just people who they feel are worth watching for no other reason than they don’t like them. Now don’t take that for some radical senseless rambling, I am just putting out possibilities that could happen.
What it all comes down to is whether people want to be more secure or do they want more freedom. It always has to balance out, and sometimes it goes to far to one side of the scale than the other, and we get the problems we have now with the Internet, and other things in life. Ask yourself that question, do you want to have more security or do you want to have more freedom?
